May 16, 2008. Spring Workshop-Collection Development. University of
Pittsburgh at Greensburg. The spring workshop will feature speakers who
will talk about assessing a library collection, weeding, book repair,
handling of special materials (for example, photographs or items of
local historical interest), how to select materials for a children's
collection, E-books, copyright, and how to effectively display
multi-media items.

| Tuesday, July 29, 2008 Library Night at PNC Park.
Join librarians and library staff from all type libraries at PNC
Park to watch the Pirates take on the Colorado Rockies. The game
begins at 7:05 p.m. Help us make this the largest group to ever
attend a Pirates Game! Here is additional information and some
forms that can be used to register your patrons for Library
Night.

Social Event- Trivia Contest. So which
county has the most trivia-savvy librarians? Join us at our
Social Event to find out. Each county is being asked to put
together a team of up to five members to challenge the other
counties in their knowledge of trivia.

Trivia Night will be held on Wednesday,
October 15th at Giannilli's Restaurant in Greensburg. Dinner
will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be a buffet. Cost for non-team
members is $16.50. The Trivia Contest will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Team members will have their dinner paid for by the Chapter.

ANNUAL EVENTS
The Southwest Chapter holds several annual events.
Members are notified of these events through email and via surface mail.
Detailed information on these events will also be included on this
website. Watch for news of these events:
Spring Workshop- The spring workshop features
speakers on a variety of subjects of interest to all types of libraries,
librarians, paraprofessionals, and clerical staff.
Social Event- The social event provides an
opportunity for all members of the chapter to get together for a fun
event to network and share stories.
Conference Event- Every year in conjunction with
the annual PaLA conference, the Southwest Chapter will host a member
event. In the past these events have included a hospitality room and
dinners out with members.
