Job Description: The person in this position is responsible for the oversight, leadership, management, and advance planning of the Pottstown Regional Public Library, 500 E. The Pottstown Regional Public Library (PRPL) serves Communities of over 50,000 inhabitants and welcomes over 30,000 visitors a year, and has a staff of 14 full and part time employees. The Director provides leadership, supervison, and direction to this staff, which is responsible for information services, hildren’s programming, collection development, and community relations.

The ideal candidate for this position will hold an MLS degree. This position requires strong customer service and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work cooperatively with team members from various departments and organizations in the Community. Excellent oral and written communication skills are a necessity, as is the ability to communicate effectively with people in many public arenas. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the ability to identify a problem, analyze possible solutions, and make a decision within a given deadline.

The successful candidate will, furthermore, have knowledge of current best library practices, library administration, budget preparation and management, and have a working knowledge of various databases, not limited to, Excel, Word, Outlook and Microsoft Office. The candidate also must possess a valid and current driver’s license.
