Dear Governor Wolf.
Congratulations on your inauguration as our 47th governor! As a library user and supporter of my local library, I am pleased to welcome a governor with a first-hand understanding and appreciation for the vital role of libraries in our communities, our economy, and most especially, in supporting education.
Based on your experience in York County, I’m sure you know that Pennsylvania’s libraries provide vital resources for pre-school children, K-12 students, and lifelong learners alike. Our libraries of all sorts—public, academic, school, and special—provide crucial support for our state’s families, our economy, and our communities.
I am confident that your experience will serve you well as you begin to shape your education plans. Library services are a smart investment in the future and an integral part of any new and revitalized educational system for all of our citizens, pre-K through adult learners.
I am eager to assist in the call you issued during your inaugural address to “write a new chapter to move Pennsylvania forward” (www.paforward.org) and to work for improved literacy, stronger libraries and schools, and a much brighter future for all of us.
