The Heart of the Community

Libraries provide so much to so many: books, recordings, computer access, music, movies, special programs, meeting space ... my local library even has a garden. They're the hearts of our communities.

Libraries Changed My Life

We need libraries as much as we need water and food. Children need libraries as much as they need air. Open libraries create open minds. I have loved libraries since I was a little girl in Allentown, PA. Libraries and librarians have fostered my career as a children's book author. Libraries changed MY life.

Libraries are Essential

Since childhood, libraries have been a source of wonder and growth, joy and discovery. I cannot imagine being without a library's resources. Libraries are an essential part of our culture.

I am Home

It has often been said of home: It’s where you’re always welcome. I think of libraries that way.

In the library every person of every age has a second living room.

I am welcome in a library. Any library. I am comfortable. I am among friends and family, some with shoes, some with pages. I am where I belong, no matter my circumstances of the moment. I am home.
