Southwest Chapter Financial Literacy Summit (Spring Workshop)

The Southwest Chapter of the Pennsylvania Library Association will be partnering with the PA Forward Financial Literacy Team to bring you the Southwest Financial Literacy Summit! Please see below for full workshop information. Members $25 Non-Members $40 Please note, PaLA will not issue refunds for cancellations or no-shows. Substitute attendees are permitted with proper notice.

8:30 a.m.                    Registration and Continental Breakfast

9:00-10:00 a.m.           Cybersecurity- Part 1 - How to make sure your library is handling information in a safe and secure manner. How to assess your library's risk of a cyber attack. - Reid Wellock, Risk Manager, FifthWall Solutions and Thomas Ryan, CPA/CFO, NGE South, LLC.

10:00-10:15 a.m. -         Break

10:15-11:15 a.m.           Cybersecurity (Part 2)

11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.    Lunch and Business Meeting

12:15-1:15 p.m.              The Sandwich Generation - How to best steer through the challenges of balancing not only your own finances, but having to bridge the gap and consider the financial well-being of your children (no matter what their age) along with your aging parents as part of your daily financial planning, including your own plans for retirement. This session will provide talking points and tools addressing the credit, savings and budgeting day-to-day needs of this large area of the population and applies not only to library staff, but patrons as well.  - Candy Abram, Assistant Vice President & Branch Manager, First National Bank

1:15-1:30 p.m.                 Break

1:30-2:30 p.m.                "Cents"-ible Lifehacks - Will provide an overview of tips and tricks that can make financial literacy more appealing to teens, college students, and millennials. The interactive session will quiz you on your own financial knowledge and provide real-life examples of financial literacy programming in libraries.
