Southeast Chapter Workshop--Building Bridges: A Librarian's Guide to Meaningful Community Engagement

Libraries continue to serve increasingly diverse students and communities. How will librarians adjust to serve them and remain effectively engaged in the long-term? Cynthia Estremera of Strategy Arts explores this topic providing techniques for successful communication, education, and partnership building. Cost is: $25 members (in advance) $35 non-members and at the door. Includes breakfast. No refunds, but substitution is allowed with proper notification.

Cynthia works as a community engagement strategist specializing in supporting Strategy Arts’ clients to bridge the gap with their communities locally and nationally. Cynthia also manages Strategy Arts’ marketing and supports clients in similar activities, she is passionate about working with clients to formulate beneficial solutions and communicate impact-driven goals. Through this work, Cynthia has developed a superior record of fostering dialogue in underserved communities while strategically supporting the development of coalitions and collectives that work to solve societal issues across the Greater Philadelphia region.

Cynthia is previously a fellow at the Modern Language Association’s Connected Academics Project where she created dialogue and awareness for career opportunities outside of academia for current and recent PhDs. Cynthia has authored several pieces in blogs, books, peer-reviewed journals, and participated in podcasts. She holds an M.A. in English and is currently a PhD. Candidate specializing in Africana Studies. Cynthia is a lead organizer and workshop facilitator for the Sisters In Conference, a free annual conference designed to be a safe space for women of color to focus on their emotional, physical and intellectual well-being.
