As the state budget works its way through the legislature, there are other items of interest to libraries being discussed in addition to the library subsidy. On June 29, Speaker Mike Turzai held a joint press conference at the Dauphin County Library System – McCormick Riverfront Library to support the increased funding to the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC).
The House added $25 million to the funds available with very little opposition. As part of the press conference, Karen Cullings, Community Relations and Marketing Director for the Dauphin County Library System spoke to the thousands of children who are served with the $25,000 to $40,000 the system receives through the program to support summer reading and outreach programming.
This is just one of the many ways that our 501(c)3 libraries in the Commonwealth build the financial support needed to keep our libraries effective and impactful.
