Mentorship

Mentorship Banner

The Mentorship Program is a MEMBERS ONLY benefit administered through the Membership Committee. Only personal regular members are eligible to participate. Mentees who have been in the library profession for less than 5 years are matched with experienced mentors: veteran library professionals who volunteer to share their knowledge and expertise. The program runs from January to September, during which time mentorship pairs will communicate at least once per month. Meeting topics are determined by the needs of the mentee, although the committee does provide optional conversation prompts via email.

Mentorship is a rewarding experience for both mentor and mentee. The mentee enjoys fresh perspectives and advice from someone outside of their organization. Mentors likewise learn from their mentees, and have an opportunity to reflect upon their own practices. For both participants, mentoring is a way to network with library professionals state-wide, resulting in insight and growth.

Registration opens in October and closes every year on December 1st. Members will be emailed with the registration link, which is also available in Info Hub. If you have any questions about the program, please reach out to the committee via email at palamentorship@gmail.com.
