Socrates Cafe
Socrates Cafe is a monthly moderated meeting of adults who discuss current events and topics. Past discussions have been: What is the legacy of the Kavanaugh hearings? Should the Electoral College be abolished? And where do your rights stop and those of others begin?
The discussions are facilitator by a former library board member who is an experienced moderator. The discussions are open to the public and all are welcome to attend. The program promotes civic and social literacy.
There is a minimal cost as we try to provide snacks to participants.

Author Bonnie Rosario, originally from the Boyertown area, wrote Chicken Girl. This story talks about Bonnie’s experience caring for chickens when she was a young girl. The author read the book, had a discussion around life experiences and completed a small craft with attendees. She also had copies of her book available for purchase, autographing copies as well.

This program engages students in a reading challenge where they each receive a passport and have to check out and read books tied into a number of genres. The program encourages they to make connections to everyday life and to have discussion around the different types of writing and subject matters covered.
