Virtual Book Club

Library Type Public Cost: Free but a paid virtual meeting space may be necessary (see description) The Virtual Book Club meets once a month and, rather than picking a specific book to discuss, each participant chooses their own book to read based on a theme. During the meeting, everyone will give a brief summary of their book, how it fits the theme, and what they thought about it. The club is a great way to find new books to read while still choosing the types of books each participant enjoys. We’ve been using the Popsugar Reading Challenge as a way to choose themes (https://media1.popsugar-assets.com/files/docs/PS20_ReadingChallenge_Printable.pdf) but participants are encouraged to come up with their own theme. Goodreads is useful for finding books that fit each theme. Each meeting is held online over Zoom. We use the same Zoom link for each meeting but still include it in the reminder email we send out each month. Depending on the time it takes for everyone to discuss their books and ask questions (usually about an hour), a paid account may be necessary. |
