We are pleased to announce the availability of conference scholarships for PaLA conference attendees. Scroll down for the criteria, deadlines and application links for scholarships offered by the Pennsylvania Citizens for Better Libraries and the West Branch Chapter of PaLA.
The Pennsylvania Citizens for Better Libraries (PCBL) is pleased to offer four (4) $500 scholarships to first-time attendees for the 2025 Pennsylvania Library Association annual conference. The awards are intended to cover the registration fee and travel to Erie.
Eligibility Criteria
- First-time PaLA Conference attendee
- Full conference registration for the conference in Erie is required.
- PaLA/PCBL membership is not required, however members receive priority.
(Non-members will be entered into the drawing for available funds after members are awarded.)

- The application deadline is 11:59 pm, July 31, 2025.
- The PaLA Scholarship Committee will draw winners meeting the above criteria in a random drawing.
- Winners will be notified in early August
- Scholarship awards will be applied to the winner's unpaid conference registration invoice, with any remaining funds disbursed via check to the winner at the mailing address indicated on the scholarship application. If conference registration is already fully paid, scholarship funds will be remitted, in full, via check to winner at the mailing address provided on the application form.
Post Award Expectations
- Scholarship winners must register for the conference by August 31. (Payment due in 30 days)
- Winners will be expected to submit a thank you letter to the sponsoring group
- Award winners are expected to attend the PaLA Membership meeting to take place online on Tuesday, October 28 at 1:00 p.m., where they will be recognized.
- After the conference, awardees will be asked for a comment about what they learned or to provide a tip for a future first-time conference attendee.
West Branch Chapter of the Pennsylvania Library Association
The West Branch Chapter of the Pennsylvania Library Associaiton is pleased to offer two (2) full conference scholarships (Value $385 ea) to chapter members attending the 2025 Pennsylvania Library Association annual conference in Erie.
Eligibility Criteria
- PaLA membership in the West Branch Chapter is required. (PaLA members living or working in Bradford, Cameron, Clinton, Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Potter, Snyder, Sullivan, Tioga, or Union Counties)
- Open to both first-time and returning PaLA conference attendees.
- Full conference registration for the conference in Erie is required.
- The application deadline is 11:59 pm, July 31, 2025.
- Winners will be notified August 11, 2025.
- Scholarship awards will be applied to the winner's unpaid conference registration invoice, with any remaining funds disbursed via check to the winner at the mailing address indicated on the scholarship application. Awardees will report their experience to the chapter, whether verbally at our November meeting, or written to be shared with chapter leadership and members.

Hotel Information
We have reserved blocks of rooms at both the Courtyard by Marriott and Sheraton Erie Bayfront at the conference rate of $150/night plus applicable occupancy taxes.(Currently,13%) Both hotels are attached to the convention center and offer stunning views of Presque Isle Bay. Lodging information will be included with your conference registration confirmation.
Complimentary parking available in the surface lot and in the hotel garages for conference participants.
