Be SMART for Kids and Moms Demand Action

Description:

Be SMART was formed to take action to prevent child access to guns and to reduce the number of child firearm deaths that occur when guns are not stored securely. The campaign focuses on the importance of conversation, responsible gun storage, and community awareness. Be SMART asks parents and caretakers, gun owners and non-gun owners alike, to “Be SMART” and take these simple steps: Secure all guns in your home and vehicles; Model responsible behavior around guns; Ask about the presence of unsecured guns in other homes; Recognize the roles of guns in suicide; Tell your peers to Be SMART. The Be SMART educational program provides the tools necessary to raise awareness and encourage good decisions on gun storage. Come hear more about Be SMART and learn techniques for speaking with others about secure gun storage. The Be SMART training takes approximately 30 minutes followed by time for questions and discussion.
