Learn MoreCelebrate Citizen Science Month with The Library System of Bradford County. This series is appropriate for all ages and is in collaboration with Bradford County Conservation District and Penn State Extension. Visit your local library between April 1st and April 5th to pick up your supplies (including pot and craft supplies). On the 7th, we decorate plants, now let’s learn about plants on April 14th at 11am, and nutrition on April 21st at 11am. Then pick up your seedling and a surprise from your local library between April 26th and April 30th and check back in to report how your plant is growing.
Learn MoreBuilding off of an idea from Mary Graham, at Abington Community Library, my adult programming librarian created take and make kits for book page flowers in celebration of spring. She used pages from discarded books for the kits and also filmed an instructional video demonstrating how to create the flower.
Learn MoreThis program takes place entirely via video. The original video posts to our social media on Saturday March 6th. Submit your own sea shanty rendition video (family-friendly, please) by March 27th! Miss Gina will create a montage video of the entries, also to be posted on our social media.
Learn MoreThis program was developed as a way to take the library out of the building. At this time, there are two separate entities to our program. One is a virtual walk every Monday morning posted to our Facebook page either by pictures or a video. These programs are either provided by the Adult Services Specialist at the library or by Guest Walkers.

Learn More“Springtime is egg time. They’re everywhere: closely guarded in the nests of birds, decorated as gifts and filling the shops as chocolate Easter treats. An egg is a universal symbol of fertility and new potential, and their perfect curved surfaces give them an instantly recognizable shape. But that shape hides a conundrum. We often describe fragile things as being like eggshells, because the thin fragments of a cracked shell are so frail. Yet a hen can sit on an egg and not break it; you may have seen demonstrations of people squeezing eggs in their hands and being unable to crush them. An egg is at once extraordinarily strong and hopelessly weak. How can this be?” In our Maker Monday STEM Class, we are going to take a look at how the strength of an egg comes from the shape by doing several experiments, including walking on them!
