Less than $20 for helium for the balloons. Ozobots borrowed through county system. All other materials were on hand or recycled items.

Montgomery County Libraries Youth Services loaned Ozobots

Description:

Combination of beginning programming, engineering, art, and group cooperation. Families reviewed how to program the Ozobots and discussed parades. (The annual Fourth of July parade is a very important local event in the this community). Children decorated balloons, made buildings from Legos, and drew the parade route.

They tested the route and revised the color coding that guides the Ozobots.

We are offering this event as a good example of how to use a small space. The branch is 1800 square feet total in size. We set up stations (balloon decorating and Lego building) as well as the parade route with a simple trail drawn. Families were encouraged to drop in during the hour, and we kept it running an extra thirty minutes to give the last families a chance to watch their balloons maneuver the route.
