
PA Forward Commons Submissions
This was a free activity fair for children ages preschool through second grade and their families. Several activity stations were available, enhancing pre- and early reading skills – including Giant Candyland, large letter blocks, letter art, sing-alongs, and a book giveaway.
Learn MoreThe Youth Services Coordinator conducts Storytime Yoga biweekly at both the New Kensington and Lower Burrell locations. Children, one to six years of age, listen to a story that inspires movement and then perform both traditional and inspired yoga moves. This program ties into PA Forward’s basic and health literacies.
Learn MoreAs part of Bosler’s Summer Learning programming, we are offering basic financial literacy classes in partnership with BB&T Bank. The sessions will run the 3rd Wednesday of each month during the summer. The seminars will talk about the basics of checking accounts and budgeting. The last session will also talk about identity theft and how to protect yourself. In addition to the presentations, Bosler will be holding displays related to each topics presented and offer additional learning materials that attendees can check-out from our collection. The library partnered with BB&T Bank to bring in financial professionals to present on financial topics. The only costs incurred were for the printing of program marketing materials.
Learn MoreSpecial guest Steven Bomze joined us for a barnyard-themed story time and craft, celebrating the PA One Book. Steven uses both a wheelchair and an iPad to communicate inclusion and tolerance. This program was co-sponsored by CIS (Community Integrated Services), a nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals with special needs get involved and work to better their community.
Learn MoreThe Community Garden Project has adopted six beds in our Community Garden. All produce grown will be used for educational programs and to provide produce to our local food bank.
