Assembling A Political Collection: Education, Aesthetics & A Bit of Insanity
Stephen Kauffman, PhD, Professor in Widener’s Center for Social Work, will discuss how collections are created as demonstrated with his personal collection of about 3,000 political memorabilia items. Through an examination of his own journey, Dr. Kauffman will present ideas about motivations, processes, and the skills needed.
Presidential Vote Choice: Excitement, Ambivalence or Negativity
James Vike, PhD, Professor of Political Science, will share some findings from his recent research of voter engagement and partisan polarization.

Inspire parents and caregivers to begin the 1000 Book Before Kindergarten journey with a single book. The Big Read 2024 challenges parents/caregivers to simply read one book to their preschool child, thus building the platform for daily reading at the most critical time of life for those literacy building blocks to be laid. Families are invited to sign up for the program, read a book either in the library or at home, and post on social medial tagging the photo with #thebigread2024! Such a simple, low pressure program to introduce families to the library.

Get ready to turn mistakes into beautiful art during our beautiful oops program. Every week we will do a fun storytime and dive into creating art in unique ways.
The program is based on the children’s book, “Beautiful Oops” by Barney Saltzberg. The program focuses on learning various concepts through play and exploration.

Donated craft supplies* will be accepted on Thursday, February 29 and Friday, March 1, 2024 from 10:00 am – 3:45 pm. Any individual that donates craft supplies will receive a VIP ticket for early entrance the day of the swap.
2. Swap Day
The swap is Saturday, March 2, 2024 beginning at 10:30 am and continuing until 1:00 pm, or until all supplies are gone. VIP ticket holders enjoy early entrance at 10:00 am (snow date: Monday, March 4, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:30 pm; 4:30 pm early entrance for VIP ticket holders). Bags will be provided and any unclaimed supplies will be donated to charity.
